Meet Charles Pryor, a passionate and talented professional trumpet player hailing from the vibrant city of Chicago. Born into a musical family, Charles’s father—a skilled trumpet player himself—passed down his love for music and deep expertise, sparking a lifelong journey that would blend tradition, innovation, and soul.
With a deep-rooted connection to the trumpet, Charles has honed his skills over the years, mastering the art of trumpet playing with finesse and dedication. His soulful melodies and powerful performances have captivated audiences across the globe, earning him a well-deserved reputation as a standout musician in the industry.
In addition to his electrifying performances, Charles is a devoted music educator, sharing his passion with students of all ages. Whether remotely or onsite through platforms like Chessup.org Christian Homeschool, or in person on Chicago’s South Side, Charles inspires the next generation to reach new heights through music. He currently serves as the resident music artist at the Sweetwater Foundation, a hub of creativity, sustainability, and community empowerment.
As a member of the Chicago Windy City Ramblers and Brass Band Instructor for The Old Town School of Folk Music, Charles continues to build bridges between generations by performing and mentoring young musicians, preparing them for the future with a strong foundation in music and discipline.
Expanding his impact beyond traditional stages, Charles provides a service titled Historic Archives, which is a a powerful initiative dedicated to preserving the rich oral histories of elders and communities through recorded interviews. Using his musical background and deep sense of storytelling, he brings voice and value to stories that shape our collective identity. Music has lead Charles to a path of filmmaking by capturing images, stories, history of life experiences to be preserved for future generations. Each historical moment captured is personalized by a musical score aligned with personality of the individual’s life story.
Charles is also a sound healing practitioner, weaving sound healing sessions into his musical offerings. Through trumpet, tongue drums, and vibrational instruments, he helps individuals and communities restore balance, release trauma, and reconnect with their inner harmony.
